Softball Summary 2013

What a season for softball this year! We started with the indoor practices in April for the Provincial Softball team. In May, the practices moved outdoors and were held at Wilson Park. This year we had record breaking # of athletes, 30 in all.

Both teams competed in a tournament held in London and both placed 1st.

The Provincial Summer Games were held in North York and my team was bumped up 2 divisions and won a bronze medal, the only win in the tournament!

A few fun games were held against the Windsor Police and Coach Marie’s softball team mates.

Coach Janets team ended the season with a fun game with friends and family.

12 athletes and 4 coaches/volunteers traveled to New Jersey to participate in SONA (Special Olympics North America) International tournament last month. Although the athletes came home without medals, they still had fun and gained a lot more experience!

On August 28th, 30 athletes, coaches and family attended a Detroit Tiger game. These tickets were generously donated by the ‘Players Give Back Ticket Donation Program’ by the Detroit Tigers organization.

Thank you to all coaches and volunteers for making this year a great softball season!
Thank you athletes for coming out every week and showing your true spirit.

See you next season.
